Travelogue - Bali, Indonesia

Bali is only a two and a half hour flight away from Singapore and yet, this was the first time that I'd been there. I was really excited about going to Bali as prior to the trip, I had seen many beautiful pictures of the island, and read about all the good food there.

There's just something about Bali that makes you want to let down your hair, and forget about the hustle and bustle of life back home. I was really glad for the short break.

Since we were only going to be there for 3 full days, we decided to spend one full day touring the sights, and the other 2 days taking time out to chill at the beach and by the pool. It was really a trip to forget about the stress of work, and just kick off our heels.

We stayed at Vasanti Seminyak and the hotel was awesome! Not only were the staff attentive, they were also very helpful. We had a pool access room, and could literally roll into the pool every morning.

Also got to enjoy a lovely view every morning over breakfast!

On our full day exploring Bali, we hired a driver to bring us around. Our driver's name is Bram and he was fantastic! Prior to our departure, he took time to answer our queries via email and recommend places of interest to us. And during our day with him, he offered us a greater insight into the lives of the people in Bali. Throughout the drive, he continually pointed out things to us, and welcomed questions. If you're looking for someone to bring you around Bali, you can contact Bram via his blog: http://bestbalitour-bram.blogspot.sg/

Now onto the places we visited! First up, Bram suggested we go take a scenic view of the 3 volcanoes of Bali since it was near a temple we wanted to visit. We were really lucky to have almost clear skies.

After spending a little time exploring the area, we headed to the Holy Spring Water Temple. It was a delight to explore the temple, and to also witness the locals carrying out their traditions.
Visitors are welcomed to take a venture into the holy springs, but its advisable to find out more before you do go in. For example, there are certain rituals that one has to perform. There are changing rooms and lockers there too!

Our next destination was to view the famous rice-fields of Bali! Unfortunately, we did not have time to explore the fields. This is definitely on my to-do list the next time I go back! The photos below do not do the beauty of this place justice. You have to be there to admire the beauty.

Our final stop before dinner was Tanah Lot. Its a temple that is located out at sea, and only accessible when the tide is low. We made our way there in hopes of catching the sunset. I personally found the place overcrowded. But it was fun trekking and climbing around rocks trying to get a nice photo of the temple. I was also pretty bummed that the temple was not opened to visitors, but I guessed its to preserve the beauty of it.
The elusive temple.
I love how gorgeous this place is!

Our last and final stop of the day was for seafood dinner! Bram introduced us to a place, and it was relaxing to sit by the sea, and enjoy fresh seafood. A scrumptious meal to end off a day of exploration.

Going back to Bali again in late Jan 2014. Can't wait!
