Travelogue - Taiwan Day 4, Taipei

Fourth day of Taiwan! We spent the day exploring some of the famous sights in Taipei itself. Our first stop was Taipei 101! The tallest building in Taiwan, and a sight to behold. Had to scurry around trying to find decent photo angles to get a nice shot of this building.

We decided to have an early lunch there because friends had told us to try out the Din Tai Fung there. And I'm glad we did because they have different menu items from the ones in Singapore, and the rice that they use is so much better! After lunch we explored the tower, and checked out some of the shops they had.

Later that afternoon, we headed to the Sun Yat Sen Memorial Hall to gain some insights, and learn about the influence this guy had on Taiwan. Pretty interesting if you are into Asia's history. I did lose interest halfway though.

And because of all the walking, and the hot sun, we got hungry again. So girls being girls, we decided to check out the Hello Kitty Cafe for the fun of it.
I was so amused/amazed. First of all, if you hate cutesy stuff, avoid this cafe. Almost everything was pink. It was Hello Kitty overload. But it was a novel experience. We had some desserts there and took photos with everything that we found entertaining. Even the toilets had Hello Kitty stuff. Oh yes, my coffee had Hello Kitty ICE CUBES.
(Beware, Hello Kitty spam ahead)

We wanted to end of the day with a trip up Maokong Gondola. But the weather was turning bad, and the gondola was no longer in operation. :( Also, one thing I like about the subway stations in Taiwan, is that they are all so nicely decorated with cute murals.
