Travelogue - Taiwan, Kaohsiung, Day 5

Back with the 5th day of Taiwan. We took a long train ride down to Kaohsiung, even though we could have taken the high speed rail. Enjoyed some lovely sights along the way. We reached Kaohsiung in the afternoon, and immediately checked into our hotel. It did not take us long to get out into the sunshine and explore this town.

We roamed around with no particular stop in mind, our end point being the night market. And we chanced upon a park!

Loved this little stream running through the park. After exploring the park a little, we headed off to the Shida night market for dinner. Warning: Lots of food photos up ahead

I seriously adore the fried mushrooms in Taiwan. I think I tried all the fried mushrooms from every night market I went to.
After stuffing ourselves silly with good food, we knew that we had to take a walk to digest everything. So, we walked down to Kaohsiung's famous River of Love. The river simply lights up at night! It was so relaxing to sit by the river banks, enjoying a nice cool drink and the company of friends. The jive music playing in the background made the experience all the more magical.
Some other sights around the city include it's main station which has an astounding art display, and a cathedral which I regret not having the chance to wander into.
