Travelogue - Liege, Belgium

Since going on exchange, I have been to Liege countless times. To change trains. Most people would probably know Liege as the town with the modern, artsy design train station.

It was awhile into my exchange before some of us realised that there was a flea market in the little town Liege. And that hey, it was suppose to be one of Europe's longest flea markets. Hence the day trip to explore this little town began.

Travelogue - Roermond, Netherlands

Continuing with the series of posts on my beloved Netherlands, here's one for the girls. Outlet shopping! And the irony about this is that my guy friends were the one who found out about this place.

Designer Outlet Roermond offers many brands with up to 70% off. Go check out their website and be wowed by the many brands. I spent a whole day shopping here, and made a hole in my bank account.

Buds of Spring.

I got a little bored this morning, and decided to superimpose two photos that I took of the view of Maastricht from my room window while on exchange.

It showcases the changing of seasons from Winter to Spring.
And that's just me, with a little too much free time on my hands.

Travelogue - Amsterdam, Netherlands

“Some tourists think Amsterdam is a city of sin, but in truth it is a city of freedom. And in freedom, most people find sin.”

~John Green

Over my exchange period, I went to Amsterdam countless of times. And I still have yet to fully explore the city. I guess because Amsterdam was always just a train ride away, I sort of took it for-granted.

Travelogue - Maastricht, Netherlands

Where do I begin. Maastricht was my home for 5 months. I have so many precious memories associated with this small town. New friends, new experiences and self discovery.

Maastricht is located along the River Mass, in the Southern part of a Dutch province called Limburg. The city was developed by the Romans and has such a deep history and culture. It was also the city where the European Union was formed and also where the famous Maastricht Treaty was signed.

I first arrived in Maastricht at the end of January. It started snowing the day I landed in Holland. Having never seen snow prior to this, it was a definite sight. That day also marked the start of my exchange in Maastricht University.

I got to experience winter in Maastricht. It was like living in a winter wonderland. The view from my room window was something that I didn't mind waking up to daily.

Travelogue - Zaanse Schans, Netherlands

Zaanse Schans is located in the town of Zaandam, and it is THE must-go place in Netherlands. The city is home to some of the few operating windmills left in Holland. Be prepared to be blown away by the beauty of the place. Pack a picnic with you and eat along the piers, soak in the endless fields and clear blue skies. Twirl around on the green grass and find inner peace in the beautiful countryside.

Travelogue - Keukenhof, Netherlands

Keukenhof can be described in 3 simple words. Tulip Lovers Paradise.

Keukenhof is like the mother of all flower shows. Located at the South of Netherlands, in a town called Lisse, this park is so exclusive it only opens from mid March to mid May. In between that, time is spent dreaming of new themes, and preparing the park for the next year.

Travelogue - Santorini, Greece

I think it's part of every girl's romantic fantasy to visit Santorini. If you've heard people rave and wow about this island, every word they say is true. And if you're wondering whether paradise can exist on Earth, yes it does. Santorini is a prime example. I absolutely loved Santorini.

Now Santorini is an island approximately 200km away from Mainland Greece. You can either take a domestic flight from Athens. I was in Turkey before I headed to Santorini, so I simply took a ferry ride (aboard a cruise ship) over. Having never been on a cruise ship before as well, it was like killing two birds with one stone.

Santorini to me is picture perfect. The night view is breath-taking. The beaches pristine and oh-so-lovely to sun tan on. If you are feeling a little adventurous, bring along your own towel and hike to less crowded areas. Sun-block is a definite must, especially during Summer.

Travelogue: Berlin, Germany

Germany has always been a country that I wanted to visit. I used to daydream about myself touring around the grand castles of Germany, soaking in the history of the country, and indulging in German Beer. One of the few regrets I had for exchange was that I didn't get to visit many German cities. However, Berlin was a definite must-do.

My trip to Berlin was much anticipated. It was a 3 day trip with a full itinerary! Berlin is famous for so many things - the Berlin Wall, the Brandenburg Gate, Alexandraplatz, Checkpoint Charlie and of course, the shopping. If you want to relax, there's always the Rittersport Cafe - I went MAD over the different types of chocolate they had there. And it was SO cheap.
