Travelogue - Lyon, France

Viva la France! Lyon was my second stop stop in France. And I love this city! The pace of life is so slow and relaxing. You can literally spend the whole Sunday strolling along the riverside.

We were in Lyon while France celebrated Bastille Day. While most shops were unfortunately closed because of that, we got to experience the charms of Lyon by simply walking along the river, going to flea markets, and roaming around the vibrant city with no aim in mind.

The first stop was Fourviere Hill to get a bird's eye view of the city. We got to take a funicular up, and explore the Basilica there too.  I love riding funiculars for some weird reason.
We also visited some ancient ruins that were built by the early Romans. It was so joyous to roam around the ruins leisurely, and imagine how it looked like in the past. It helped that the weather in Lyon was lovely while we were there.

One thing to do in Lyon is have a Bouchon - typical Lyonnaise cuisine. Yums. To burn off the hearty meal, take a stroll along the streets and be charmed by the buildings.

Another day was spent roaming along the rivers. And I am wow-ed by the different types of playgrounds we found. I felt like a little kid again! I can see why one can spend the whole day along the river. There are places to eat, lounge around, and play. What more could you ask for?

Of course, not to forget how scenic the river banks are!

Oh France, you have charmed my socks off with your understated elegance and beauty.
