Travelogue - Rome Pt 2 (Colosseo & Roman Forum)

Back with more on Rome!

This time the focus will be on other attractions that Rome is well known for, and in particular, the Colosseum. The Colosseum is one of my favourite places in Rome, despite how crowded it can get. I found something so peaceful about walking around the ancient ruins and just soaking in the majestic beauty of the place. Imagining how each stone was placed, and how long it took for such a structure to be build. Marvelling at the things the Colosseum has seen, the history that it has been a part of.

Now here's a tip. If you head on over to the Roman Forum first, and purchase a ticket to that site, you can get  combo ticket that allows you entry into the Colosseum. The ticket is valid for two days, and this explains how I went to the Colosseum twice. Not regrets though. I would definitely head back to the Colosseum again if I'm ever in Rome.

Walk into the Colosseum and be greeted by this astounding sight.

My only regret about the Colosseum is not getting to climb up to the upper levels. I think I spent about 2-3 hours in this place on each visit. There's just something to peaceful and calming about wandering around, and exploring the ruins.

The Roman Forums are also nearby the Colosseum. We opted for a guided tour since it didn't make much sense to be wandering around ruins not knowing what they stood for. Got to learn a whole lot more about Roman history and what ancient buildings were used for. We easily spent half a day roaming around the forum, and you can also climb up to Palatine hill for a lovely view of, yes you guessed it, the Colosseum (and of course other parts of Rome).

And last but not least, one cannot forget the Arch of Constantine.

Rome is a lovely city that has so much to offer. From heat-relieving gelatos, mouth watering pastas and pizzas, shopping and attractions. Stay tuned for more about the Fountains in Rome!
