Travelogue - Liege, Belgium

Since going on exchange, I have been to Liege countless times. To change trains. Most people would probably know Liege as the town with the modern, artsy design train station.

It was awhile into my exchange before some of us realised that there was a flea market in the little town Liege. And that hey, it was suppose to be one of Europe's longest flea markets. Hence the day trip to explore this little town began.

The flea market is located along the river, and stretches on and on and on. It goes on, and on and on. ;)
You can find LOADS of things there ranging from bags to accessories, shoes to pet accessories and lot of delicious food.

After shopping and snacking we headed for lunch in a little french restaurant and decided to explore the town! We decided to climb the what I shall label as the "steps of Liege". Yes, we climbed up all 373 steps. I seem to have done a lot of climbing in Europe.

While the climb up was really tiring (my stamina was horrible at that time), the view at the top was worth it! And we got to see some really nice sights along the way up.

Friend of mine found an efficient way to get down.

Once we were done climbing down the stairs we went to visit a cathedral, and walked along the river. We also visited several memorial sites and a park. :) It was a really lovely day. We also devoured many oranges because we bought loads at the market. I miss those carefree days of Europe so badly.
So if you are ever in Belgium, and just passing by Liege to change trains to somewhere else, don't discount this little town. To me, it's a hidden gem. Little, yet full of things to do. Sights to see, shops to explore. Take a day out, soak in the charm that is Liege. And maybe, you'll come to see this little town as more than just a place to change trains.
