Travelogue - Zaanse Schans, Netherlands

Zaanse Schans is located in the town of Zaandam, and it is THE must-go place in Netherlands. The city is home to some of the few operating windmills left in Holland. Be prepared to be blown away by the beauty of the place. Pack a picnic with you and eat along the piers, soak in the endless fields and clear blue skies. Twirl around on the green grass and find inner peace in the beautiful countryside.

In Zaanse Schans, you get to see how cheese is made, how the Dutch clogs are made, and take lovely photos. I fell in love with this place in an instant and immediately started contemplating if I should rent a boathouse and spend another weekend there. Unfortunately, I did not manage to do so. But let's leave that to be another adventure for another time.

Marvel at the tall windmills, and the traditional Dutch houses.
Other than touring the windmills and visiting the museum, take a walk along the country side, and enjoy the endless fields and rivers. If you live in a bustling city like me, Zaanse Schans feels like the perfect hideaway. It's easy to get lost in a fantasyland like this one.
It's not easy to find such breath-taking beauty in the world nowadays.
